Wishful Wednesday!

Instead of telling you what I *wish* for, today I am going to tell you about what I *wished* for and got.

I absolutely love, love, love anything with significance/meaning. A tattoo with meaning, a rock with meaning, it doesn’t matter. If it has a good story behind it, I LOVE it. Well, I have a few fabulous pieces of furniture (a clock, a buffet, etc…) that were passed down to me from my great-grandmother in Connecticut. Grandma Terrell has been gone for many years, but I can see my heritage when I look at these pieces. I get a warm, fuzzy feeling when I think about the strong bond that the women in our family have. And the furniture is a little piece of my family that I can always hang on to, even when they are gone.

Anyway, my mother made her FIRST “rag quilt” for Blaire’s first birthday (my niece).
And I just thought it was so special. Something that Blaire will treasure as she grows older. Not only was it GORGEOUS, my mother’s hands labored over the quilt for hours until it was JUST perfect. I mentioned to my mom that I would like a quilt too for Christmas. AND, that is just what I got! **Because I’m spoiled like that** J

My quilt took MANY, MANY more hours to make than Blaire’s because it is King size. I don’t know that I have ever seen a king size “rag quilt”….only lap-sized because they take so long to make. All of the fringy-rags were clipped by my sweet mom’s hands! I will treasure this quilt, and pass it down to the generations that follow me. This quilt is better than ANYTHING that could be bought! Thanks to my mom!

Is the bottom picture the quilt she made for you? That is just awesome! It reminds me of something from Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie!
